the Maryland Mosaic
A Huge Honor for Our Club The Frederick Art Club (TFAC) is proud to announce that our Claire McCardell project has been selected as one of the Maryland Mosaic's 142 "national firsts" to be celebrated in 2026 when the United States turns 250. Each piece in the Mosaic represents a county's significant contributions not only to Maryland but to the country, underscoring that "Maryland is a small state with a big history."
History in Bronze The bronze statue of groundbreaking fashion designer Claire McCardell that presides over Carroll Creek Linear Park is TFAC's gift to Maryland's public art landscape. As such it is the centerpiece of our club's selection as a Mosaic partner and the springboard for events we are planning in conjunction with Maryland's celebration of the nation's 250th birthday. The Mosaic is a complexity of pieces of history from all 23 counties and Baltimore City.

On the Horizon Work is underway now to develop ways to promote each Mosaic Piece and connect them in a heritage tourism trail for 2026. TFAC has submitted a proposal, and we await the go-ahead to put our plan into action. In the meantime, follow this site and the state's site to find out what's coming!
