Dean Fitzgerald, the owner of Fitzgerald’s Heavy Timber Construction, is probably best known for his love of maintaining and renovating many of Frederick County’s historic barns. At his presentation at TFAC's April meeting, Dean shared his experiences and unique expertise related to the development, design, reuse, and construction of new and historic projects. He discussed the educational value of Frederick County's annual Barnstormers event, which was created to help visitors discover, appreciate, and value these wonderful renovated structures.
Dean has restored numerous historic structures around the world, but one of his recent projects is restoring the original Uncle Tom's Cabin, closer to home in Montgomery County.
