“As we know, The Frederick Art Club is a vibrant organization with over 120 talented amazing members. Another thing we know for sure is that we’ve all missed each other,” said TFAC president Marilyn Bagel in an email to members on August 18. “So, I’m delighted to let you know that beginning in September, we are resuming our monthly meetings. Actually, I should say we’re re-ZOOMing our monthly meetings,”
Zoom refers to a popular form of online communication that has revolutionized how many businesses, organizations, friends and families are staying connected in this time of COVID-19.
Members are urged to save the Zoom meeting date, Thursday, September 10, noon to 2:00 pm—the second Thursday of the month as usual.
“I know some of you are very comfortable with this kind of technology, and others of you would rather be run over by a bus,” Marilyn jokes. But either way, she promises to send everyone easy-to-follow instructions.
Luncheon, you ask? Yes, you make it, and then enjoy it in the comfort and safety of your own home during our meeting on Zoom. As always, Audrey Farnsworth will have a wonderful program speaker, TBA soon.
But first, as a trial run, there’s a Zoom Happy Hour set for Friday, August 28, 4:00–5:00 pm. Marilyn promises to include a couple of cocktail recipes when she sends out the Zoom link.
“While I’ve personally been on many Zoom calls, including meetings for work and for fun, this is the first time I am the host, so I will have an official hand-holder. Drew Canning, Linda Moran’s granddaughter and a student at Vassar, will help me make sure we pull this off successfully,” Marilyn says. (Drew is also the videographer for our Inspired by Claire Virtual Art Exhibit that you’ll hear more about soon.)
Look for a follow-up email with links to both the Happy Hour and September “luncheon” meeting. Looking forward to Zooming together!
